for shipping trade goods TO the US, however, for us, it hasn't benefitted on the import side. There are still tariff disputes ongoing from 1990 when NAFTA was implemented. Doesn't affect us who are getting parts shipped in, carriers charge their brokerage fees, couriers being the highest, post the lowest.
As for the dollar, it's amazing what we can buy... on my trip, my buddy picked up a 2003 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T for $ 14 500.00 in Seattle and brought it back to Canada. Identical vehicle here is $20 000.00 It's laughable what new cars cost here now that the dollar has had time at par, we are still paying 20-30% over US MSRP's for the same vehicles. Even the dealers can't explain why the pricing has remained that high. They offer lame 'US Pricing Reductions' on new vehicles that amount to a $ 500.00 rebate, same as you'd get anyway if you start dealing.
The Kawasaki bike I was eyeing lists for $17 900.00 here, $ 12 900.00 in the States. At the recent bike show, the Kawi reps couldn't give me a decent reason for a $ 5000.00 difference. It's ridiculous.
